AIN Lesions Treatment Module

The AIN Treatment Module is part of the THD® ProctoStation platform and offers different surgical options for the treatment of anal dysplastic and neoplastic lesions.

The AIN Treatment module allows the surgeon to electrosurgically ablate, coagulate or fulgurate different types of anal lesions in a safe and effective way, thanks to its advanced features.

The AIN module for electrosurgical treatment of AIN lesions includes a high-frequency desiccator or an electrosurgical unit with consumable tips for different surgical needs, and a smoke evacuation system.

High Frequency Desiccator

The High-Frequency Desiccator is a low-power electrosurgical unit designed for the treatment of anal dysplasia and associated procedures on the perianal verge.

The High-Frequency Desiccator includes:

  • a Reusable Handpiece High-Frequency Desiccator with power switching buttons which is steam autoclavable up to 25 times.
  • a stainless-steel stand for mounting on the cart.

Other items usable with the High-Frequency Desiccator are:

  • a Smoke Evacuator Tubing Kit, a disposable tubing kit for simultaneous evacuation of smoke while using the High-Frequency Desiccator. Sold with the unit and also seperately.
  • a Reusable Grounding Cable High-Frequency Desiccator to be used with or without a grounding cable and pad. Tested for 100 uses and sold seperately.
  • a Disposable Grounding Pad to be used with the reusable grounding cable to ground the patient and avoid physical contact with the surgeon. Sold seperately.

Electrosurgical Unit (ESU)

The Electrosurgical Unit (ESU) is a multipurpose unit that can be used to perform monopolar and bipolar surgical procedures thanks to 5 different energy outputs: cut, blend, coagulation, fulguration, and standard bipolar.

The Electrosurgical Unit includes:

  • a Reusable Grounding Cable ESU to be used in conjunction with the Disposable Grounding Pads ESU and tested for 100 uses. Replacements are available seperately.

Other items usable with the Electrosurgical Unit are:

  • a Smoke Evacuator Fusion Hand Piece, a disposable low-profile electrosurgical pencil with an integrated smoke channel to be used in conjunction with Smoke Evacuation Fusion probes. Sold seperately.
  • a Smoke Evacuator Fusion Suction Tubing Kit, a disposable tubing kit for the evacuation of electrosurgical aerosols and gases to be used in combination with Smoke Evacuator Fusion Hand Piece and Smoke Evacuator Probes. Not intended for use with fluids. Sold seperately.
  • a Smoke Evacuator Fluid Catch Tubing Kit for the evacuation of electrosurgical aerosols, gases, and fluids to be used with Smoke Evacuator Fusion Hand Piece and Smoke Evacuator Probes. Sold seperately.
  • Disposable Grounding pads ESU utilized with the reusable grounding cable to ensure proper patient connectivity and reduce the risk of electrical shocks and burns.

Electrosurgical probes

THD offers a complete range of stainless-steel electrosurgical probes to be used with the Electrosurgical unit for the removal of anal dysplasia and other surgical needs.

The electrosurgical flexible probes line includes stainless-steel probes with different end tips, all featuring:

  • a hollow center to allow for smoke evacuation from directly behind the tip.
  • flexible support to allow providers to achieve infinite angles of treatment.

The shape and features of the different end tips make it possible to perform anal dysplasia electrosurgical treatment by ablation, coagulation or fulguration, according to the surgeons’ specific needs:

  • Fusion Flex Ball Tip probes: a flexible probe with a stainless-steel ball tip utilised to seal blood vessels by electrothermal coagulation.
  • Fusion Flex Blade probes: a flexible probe with a stainless-steel blade utilised to remove lesions by electrothermal fulguration.
  • Fusion Flex Needle Tip probes: a flexible probe with a stainless-steel needle tip utilised to cut lesions by electrothermal ablation.
  • Fusion Flex Coag Tip probe: a Teflon-coated flexible probe with a stainless-steel tip utilised to suction both smoke and fluids while sealing blood vessels to allow for faster haemostasis.

  • Fusion Flex Ball Tip probes: a flexible probe with a stainless-steel ball tip utilised to seal blood vessels by electrothermal coagulation.
  • Fusion Plastic Blade probe: a Teflon-coated probe with a stainless-steel blade utilised to ablate perianal lesions by electrothermal fulguration.
  • Fusion Flex Needle Tip probes: a flexible probe with a stainless-steel needle tip utilised to cut lesions by electrothermal ablation.

Smoke Evacuator

The Smoke evacuator is a light-weight and compact high-efficiency filtration system. It is used to remove harmful surgical smoke at the point of ablation during the electrosurgical treatment of AIN lesions.

It includes a footswitch for easy hands-free activation, 3 ports for maximum versatility of connections and a push-button fan adjustment with LED indicator to identify current setting. The use of the smoke evacuator in combination with Smoke Evacuator Fusion Hand Piece ensures best results.

Other items usable with the Smoke Evacuator are:

  • a 4-stage Replacement Filter to filter aerosols, gross particulate, and micro-organisms at an efficiency of 99.999% with a carbon filter for absorption of toxic gases. Also available as replacement.
  • a Remote Activator to allow automatic activation of the smoke evacuator when connected with the Electrosurgical Unit or High-Frequency Desiccator. Sold seperately.
